The Outward Bound Malaysia, Lumut 50th Anniversary Celebrations
Outward Bound Malaysia, Lumut is 50 this year! You are specially invited to join in the fun at the first Anniversary Celebration. For two days and one night you get to feel the OB experience again. Ever wondered what it would be like to go back to OB - walk up flights of stairs to your dorms, row in the whaler saying ‘deep pull up’ in unison, kayak at the deep blue or go through the ropes course? What ever happened to your fellow Korbu mate or was it Tahan, Gading….? Take this chance to meet up with old friends and eat chicken you grill for BBQ nite.
So come on to the soft launch for the Anniversary Celebrations aptly themed “Connecting with the Past”.
When? 3 & 4 April 2004 (2 days – Saturday to Sunday)
What activities are there? Activities include being on the kayak, whaler and ropes course which are only for ExBounders. This is on a first-come-first serve basis catering for a maximum of 125
ExBounders at one time with all three activities running at the same time. Signing up for the activities (choose one of three) can be done on the 3 April 2004. Family and friends can watch and you can show them where you kayak for 2 days, or the dorm you slept in. For the BBQ nite on 3 April everyone is welcome.
What to bring? All ExBounders are also advised to bring their own attire to suit with the activities held. Generally for water activities (kayak and whaler) the attire requirement is as follows shirt (long or short sleeve), pants (short, long or tights), water or aqua shoe or sandals, cap or hat or sunhat, sun glasses and off course sunblock. For the Ropes Course, the attire will be long sleeve t-shirt, long pants, shoe and insect repellant.
Where to stay? If you want to bring back memories of sleeping in with 15 other people in basic accommodation, stay at our good old hill side dormitories where boys are with boys and girls with girls. If you prefer a more comfortable environment, the nearby Teluk Batik Hotel / Apartments located 1 km from the OB centre is an option. With early indication we can arrange special discounts for 1 room / 2 room apartments exclusive for ExBounders using OB stamped vouchers issued during registration. Typical sample would be - 1 Room Apartment RM70-80. Facilities – swimming pool, lounge, parking area and restaurant.
Do I have to pay much? Not much lah. Just a minimal fee of RM50 per ExBounder for meals, BBQ, use of equipment and activities. In-house dormitory lodging is an additional RM20 per person. For family and friends who are coming for the BBQ nite, the fee is RM10 for adults (12 years and above) or RM8 for children (below 12 years and above 6 years old).
